The Advocate, NOTICE - - - CITY OF BAKER SCHOOL BOARD SPECIAL MEETING March 31, 2015 MINUTES The City of Baker School Board met in the Board Room of the City of Baker School Board Office beginning at 6:00 p.m. on March 31, 2015. Mrs. Elaine G. Davis, Board President, called the meeting to order. A roll call was taken by Mrs. Davis: ALEXANDER: Present CARPENTER: Present DAVIS: Present BOXIE: Present JOHNSON: Present A moment of silent meditation was led by Mrs. Johnson, followed by the Pledge of Allegiance led by Mrs. Alexander. Mrs. Davis welcomed all visitors to the meeting. On motion of Dr. Carpenter seconded by Mrs. Boxie, the Board voted to approve the agenda. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. Mrs. Davis asked for a motion to table Item # 7: Approval of E-rate for City of Baker School System until staff is ready for presentation to the Board. On motion of Mrs. Johnson seconded by Mrs. Boxie, the Board voted to table Item # 7 until staff is ready to present to the Board. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. On motion of Dr. Carpenter seconded by Mrs. Johnson, the Board voted to approve a memorandum of understanding between Southern University Mathematics and Science Program and the City of Baker School System to implement a program to help teachers and students in grades K-12. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. On motion of Dr. Carpenter seconded by Mrs. Johnson, the Board voted to accept the Superintendents resignation effective May 28, 2015. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. On motion of Dr. Carpenter seconded by Mrs. Boxie, the Board voted to advertise for a Superintendent and authorized the Board President to establish a timeline for the selection process. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. On motion of Mrs. Boxie seconded by Dr. Carpenter, the Board voted to approve the reconstitution plan for Bakerfield Elementary School for the 2015-2016 school year. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. On motion of Dr. Carpenter seconded by Mrs. Boxie, the Board voted to change the date of paying supplemental pay to City of Baker School System staff to May 5, 2015. Voting yes: Davis, Boxie, Alexander, Carpenter and Johnson. Voting no: None. Superintendent Joseph made the following announcements: 1. The East Baton Rouge City Parish will be installing new school zone flashing lights on Groom Road. 2. The Baker Heritage Museum will be sponsoring an Art Show on April 11, 2015. 3. On May 23, 2015, the Baker Heritage Museum will be hosting a three-generation Mother/ Daughter Tea. Mrs. Davis thanked those in attendance for coming and announced that the next meeting of the City of Baker School Board would be held on Tuesday, April 21, 2015, beginning at 6:00 p.m. in the Board Room of the School Board Office.
